Massage Therapy

Massage therapy or therapeutic massage uses long, smooth strokes, kneading, and other movements and techniques to focus on layers of tissues and muscle that are tight, sore, spastic or injured. Massage is known to increase circulation and bring oxygen and other nutrients to the body. Oil, gel, and lotion are used to work the tissues. Reasons for therapeutic massage include back pain, arthritis, tendonitis, stress relief, headaches and migraines, spasms, strains, sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, circulatory and respiratory problems.

Chiropractic and massage form a great marriage to help return optimal health to our patients. Often, patients will schedule the adjustment first, then immediately follow with an hour massage to help relax and sooth the muscles associated with the problem area. If a patient is too tight to be adjusted, the doctor will recommend a massage right before the adjustment for a more relaxed visit. No patient is required to receive chiropractic care in order to get a massage and vice versa. They work independent of each other, but are known to work better together.
